DR. TERA BARNHARDT

DVM

I am a partner veterinarian specializing in the care of beef, dairy, and calf clients in Southwest Kansas. My roots trace back to Satanta, Kansas, where I was raised on a farm and ranch, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for agriculture and animal husbandry. I pursued my education at Kansas State University, where I earned my undergraduate degree, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and a Master’s degree, proudly supporting the Wildcats throughout my academic journey. Following my graduation, I relocated to Johnson, Kansas, where I participated in the Veterinary Training Program for Rural Kansas, which provided me with tuition reimbursement in exchange for my commitment to serve rural communities.

My motivation to become a veterinarian stems from my passion for problem-solving and my desire to collaborate with others to address challenges in animal health and production. The relationships I cultivate with my clients bring immense satisfaction to my work, making it a fulfilling career. I am particularly dedicated to the advancements in production farming, recognizing its vital role in feeding the global population. My involvement with the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the AVMA Animal Agriculture Liaison Committee, and the National Institute of Animal Agriculture reflects my commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of consumers in the agricultural sector. I have been honored with several accolades, including the DQC Veterinarian of the Year in 2021 and the AABP James A. Jarrett Award for Young Leaders in 2022.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three young children, managing an upland game hunting lodge, running a construction business, and engaging in leisure activities such as golfing, grilling, and supporting the Wildcats!
