Dr. Cummings obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Following his graduation, he undertook a preceptorship and subsequently became part of a mixed animal practice in Middle Tennessee, where he developed a profound interest in the livestock sector. His career trajectory then led him to a regional cooperative in East Tennessee, where he dedicated his efforts exclusively to food animal medicine. This was followed by a four-year tenure as a Professional Service Veterinarian specializing in beef cattle with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. Currently, he is a partner at Heritage Veterinary Partners, where he plays a pivotal role in leading clinical research, providing technical support, and offering clinical services and consultations to agricultural producers.
Dr. Cummings is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, with a specialization in Beef Cattle Practice, which underscores his commitment to advancing the field of veterinary medicine in this area. He attributes much of his professional development to the invaluable guidance of his early mentors, who exemplified a strong commitment to livestock production and food animal health. Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Cummings shares his life with his wife, Amy, who is also a veterinarian and manages two small animal clinics in East Tennessee. Together, they cherish their time spent outdoors and actively engage in farming activities with their three children, fostering a family-oriented lifestyle that emphasizes both work and recreation.
