- A professional liability policy is required for all veterinary students* who will be participating in any “hands-on” learning while visiting one of our practices.
- It is the responsibility of the student to obtain their own policy.
- Most vet schools require 3rd and 4th year students to obtain an AVMA Student PLIT policy (it’s free!) before they participate in clinical rotations (i.e. for school credit).
- We will need to confirm that 1st or 2nd year students have also enrolled in the AVMA program (link: https://www.avmaplit.com/products/student-liability/)
*Does not apply to younger students (middle/high school, undergrad/pre-vet) as they should only be visiting in an observatory nature (i.e. NOT performing any medical procedures with or without supervision; as this would not be supported in any state practice act).
